Supervision

  • I am an AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate providing supervision for therapists in training and those working toward licensure in Iowa.

My approach to supervision is postmodern, collaborative, and focused on self-of-the-therapist development. I offer dyadic and group supervision formats with a strong preference for live supervision and retrospective audio/visual recordings. I work best as a mentor for developing therapists with experiential, existential, narrative, language-collaborative, and integrative orientations, however, I am skilled in several trauma-informed approaches to models of systemic therapy. I'm proud to offer supervision informed by queer philosophy to LGBTQ supervisees. Creative systemic thinkers interested in cultivating a strong skillset for use of self in therapeutic space will benefit a great deal from supervision with me. I am selective about the number of supervisees I take on; I invest deeply in each trainee's development.

Organizational Consultations, Lecturing, and Presentations

  • University lectures on queer and trans religious trauma and shame, queer self-of-the-therapist, and best practices in working with LGBTQ relational systems
  • Professional research conference presentations for qualitative dissertation on religious trauma and shame
  • Tailored presentations and workshops

Peer Consultations for Mental Health Providers:

  • Peer consultation for colleagues on LGBTQ clinical concerns, systemic case conceptualization, and psychotherapy for religious trauma and shame

Session Format Options

Everyone is unique–we all have different needs. Some clients work best in-office for in person sessions. Others thrive with teletherapy. Both of these options are available to clients based on what they feel is best for them. A third option that I utilize is called "Walk and Talk Therapy." Walk and Talk Therapy takes place outdoors–a setting which many clients find helpful for therapeutic work. For more information about any of these session formats, feel free to ask!
